WELDICTION-TR LISBON MEETING

WELDICTION-TR Lisbon meeting was conducted in Portugal on 19-20 March 2008. For this meeting the attended participants were Prof. Dr. Mehmet Türker (G.U.), Prof. Dr. Adem Kurt (G.U.), Assist. Prof. Dr. Hakan Ates (G.U.); Luisa Quintino (EWF), Heliana Bibas Gaspar (EWF), Susana Isabel Escala (EWF); Carlo Roselini (IIS), Rosario Russo (IIS); Prof. Dr. Liviu Brandusan, Prof. Dr. George Arghir.

After the opening ceremony of the first day of meeting (19.03.2008), Dr. Hakan Ates, introduced the participants to each other and gave a brief talk and thank to all participants for their efforts. During his speech he mainly evaluated the Ankara meeting and emphasized the success of that meeting. He also emphasized the duty and responsibility of each partners and reminded the due time of the duties of each partners. After that Prof. Dr. Turker gave a talk about project and he chaired the meeting for all day. After that Heliana G. BIBAS, from European Welding Federation, gave a talk on the evaluation of the Ankara meeting and the time table of the Lisbon meeting.

In Ankara meeting a problem related to software had arisen and EBA together with Gazi University had been appointed to solve the problem. EBA had prepared a report about the program to be used in project and had delivered it to the participants one week before Lisbon meeting. However, because of the serious health problem of the Tuncay OZER’s father, he could not participate the Lisbon Meeting and the report related to software program could not be discussed properly. It was decided that the software to be used will be decided between computer engineers of Gazi University and EBA and than will be delivered to the partners. If the proposed program of EBA will not provide an extra benefit to the project, the previous software will be used.

After the official meeting, a one hour visit was carried out to ISQ (Welding Quality Institute) (Instituto Soldadura Qualidade) at 17:00 with the attendance of all participants. Welding, metrology, and other calibration and control units were visited and found to be interesting. The questions related to the labs and procedures asked by participants were answered carefully by the experts. Participants were quite happy with this profitable visit.

Participants were taken to a restaurant in the area of “Oeries” for dinner. During dinner time participants had a chance to discussed detail about the project. Participants also had a chance to see lovely Portugal coast and Portuguese culture closely.

Second day, first of all Dr. Hakan Ates summarized the agenda and then participants talked about the development of the project mainly on needs analysis. They agreed that the needs analysis provide us; to summarize project, to obtain up- date information (already existing) related to the training needs in the project pilot technical-related areas.

It was agreed that all partners would be responsible to identify the national needs to develop this project based on the development of a new multimedia tool and dictionary. The impact and use of the project results must be clearly identified. This would be done by each partner at their national level.

After this general talk about the project, Prof.Dr. Turker gave a talk about;

• Adding some more terms to dictionary. This will be prepared by Prof. Turker who will send it to the partners in a month.
• Classifying those terms under some general titles such as: process, material, equipment etc. This will also be prepared by Prof. Turker
• Evaluating and accepting the new terms by participant. This will be done after receiving the new terms.
• Translation of the terms to the partner languages by subcontractor and adding the new terms at the end of previous terms.
• All partners will prepare questions for questionnaire.
• Prepared questions for both need analysis and for work packages will be sent to the Project Manager who will sort them out.
• Finally, every partner will use that questionnaire (for needs analysis) for welder, academician, employer etc.

On the other hand, new videos and the pictures related to welding materials, equipment and the process will be sent by partners to the contractor and who will be responsible for preparation the CD and web page for the purpose of project.

The main aim for the project will not be commercial it will be educational.

Subcontracts will be prepared between the partners and subcontractor and before signing it should be sent to Dr. H. ATES who will agree with Turkish National Agency.

H. BIBAS will send a draft subcontract to the partners just for their eyes. The related part of Financial and administrative handbook will be red before preparation of the subcontracts.
