This project arises from the need to have a harmonised terminology in the welding area, since this area has suffered a significant technological evolution over the last years. The increasing trend is the reflection of the market internationalisation and consequent globalisation of the commercial relationship. Market internationalisation and permanent technological evolution lead to the urgent need of having a common understanding of the most updated terms used in welding.
The EWF-European Welding Federation joins 27 European countries and over the years has developed several harmonised guidelines for education and training of welding professionals. These guidelines establish minimum requirements both in terms of access conditions to the courses and teaching hours per subject that all 27 members of EWF have to respect when implementing such courses in their countries. In this way, the objective of harmonisation is achieved due to the guarantee that all trainees who undertake a EWF course achieved a minimum common level of knowledge, irrespective of the country where they undergo training and examination. However, this effort of harmonisation made by EWF faces a problem concerning the contents of the courses, for in their implementation the equivalence of the terms used is entirely achieved.
TRANSFER OF WELDING MULTIMEDIA SOFTWARE (WELDICTION-TR) aims at transferring the training tool that had been developed by the above mentioned project through adapting it to relevant national needs and languages in order to ensure effective evaluation and validation. This tool will enable the achievement of new linguistic skills in the welding through supporting improvements in quality and innovation in vocational education and training systems, institutions and practices, in the acquisition and the use of knowledge, skills and qualifications to facilitate personal development, employability and participation in the European Labour Market. Modern communications and educational technology now makes it possible for the target groups to carry out welding training using facilities that would previously be considered too expensive or too risky to use. The WEB page and internet will enable target groups to carry out welding training using laboratory equipment remotely. Central facilities can now be accessed to provide students with key experiences not available locally. The trainings can be integrated within an overall, collaborative learning environment.
With this transfer of innovation project, It is provided that quality of VET systems and practices related to welding in Turkey and partner countries will have renewed appropriating as European Welding Federation (EWF) standard and terminologies, by the time project result in. For this purpose, quality of educational system and practise of vocational high school and universities will also be developed. Objectives
